"I'm raising my two youngest grandsons by myself, so there's a lot that has to be done. Beforehand, I did not stop just because I was tired. If they had school functions, I had to go to that even though it hurt and I was exhausted and everything. But now I am able to do more things with them, get out and walk with them. We do a lot more things together now. And I mean, I want to go do it now, and I feel good doing it."

Sheila G's Story

I did have pain -- a lot of pain. Just standing and washing dishes was very painful. It was mainly in my like middle back, and it just brought me to tears. I would have to quit for a while and then go back to it. It's very, very tiring, and it gets you down. But I learned to just get by with it. Just assumed that it was something that I would have to live with. But I e-mailed the Consulting Orthopedics office, and they contacted me. And I was just thrilled to know that somebody my age, they could do something about it.

I like Dr Shelokov real well. The boys were very nervous about, about the surgery. And so Dr. Shelokov said, "I'll talk to them." And you know, he talked to them just right at their own level , and that made a big impression with me. He just did great. He told it like it was. Didn't pull any punches or anything. He told me this was something that has to be done. So we set up an appointment for me to have the surgery.

I remember when I woke up in recovery, Dr Shelokov was standing at the foot of my bed. He said, "You are straight as an arrow." And it was awesome, you know. It was all over with. And now I feel great. Absolutely wonderful. The surgery was in January, and I just I had no pain. My back and stomach are still a little bit tender, but I have no pain, and I can wash dishes, I can clean house, and I mean, it's just wonderful. It really is. I honestly didn't think that it would be like that. I thought "he'll go in and he'll straighten up my back," but I didn't know that it would just make me where I was pain-free. All of these years I've been in pain, and now I'm not, and it's awesome .
